On November 2nd, 2023, Render announced it was going to be swapping from ETH to SOL for for faster transactions, cheaper fees, and the needs of the project to achieve more ambitious goals with more on chain data and transactions.

There has been a manual swap mechanism available for a few months, but now major centralized exchanges are supporting the merge and converting tokens from the ticker RNDR (ETH) to RENDER (SOL).

If you use one of these exchanges:

You are good to go. They will be automatically handling the migration for you. No further action is required.

If you are using Coinbase, no need to worry, they will also be supporting the merge, but you will have to manually swap your tokens. Because Coinbase is highly regulated, they tend not to swap on customers behalf.

What you Need:

  1. A self-custody Ethereum wallet such as Coinbase Wallet or MetaMask
  2. A self-custody Solana wallet such as Phantom Wallet

If you are setting these up for the first time, make sure you write down your seed phrase(s) and keep it in a safe place. It is not recommended to keep this on your phone on computer. Write it down, store it away, and do not show anyone.
